The Laurel Tree, LLC New Artist Submission PolicyWe've created this policy to help us manage our ability to respond to the enthusiastic interest we've received from artists. We enjoy meeting artists and hope to meet as many as possible. Criteria 1.You must live or work in the Pacific Northwest, roughly defined as Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and parts of British Columbia. We give preference to artists who live or work around the Snoqualmie Valley and the greater Seattle-Tacoma area. 2.Your work must fit the “look” of the gallery. Our theme is contemporary with glass and wood fixtures, brightly colored walls and maple flooring. Before submitting, we encourage you to visit the gallery. 3.Your work must be art, not hobby/craft. This can be subjective, but there must be something of “you” and your point-of-view in the work that is recognizable. 4.Your work must be different from what we already have in the gallery. 5.The work must be yours. You can use material made by others, but the design and the majority of implementation must be done by you or in collaboration with employee(s). Certain things like framing or giclee printing can be outsourced. Process 1.Artists meetings are by appointment only. 2.We review submissions twice per month. 3.In 1 to 3 weeks we will contact you via email or phone to set up an appointment or to let you know that we are declining your submission. We will make every effort to explain our decision, but please understand our answers are final. 4.Generally, we will want to see examples of your work when we meet. We’ll have additional information for you at that time as well. How to Submit 1.We accept email, fax, and snail mail. Email is preferred. 2.Please do not submit any of your work. If you do, we will not return it. 3.On your submission, please include: who you are, where you live/work, what you do, website(s), and photographs/video of your work. Email attachments or weblinks are preferred. You may also provide DVDs or CDs. Please no video tape. If you want your CD/DVD returned, you will need to provide an envelope with postage prepaid. Otherwise, we will not return the disk. 4.Include any current and past galleries and whether you have any agreement that might limit what you can show. Also include art shows, such as the Bellevue Art Show.
